Timothy Samuel Shah is the Director of the South Asian Studies Program and a Research Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center.

Professional Experience
In 1997-1998, he was a Visiting Graduate Student in Theology at Christ Church, Oxford University, and in 1998-1999 he was a Civitas Fellow in Faith and Public Affairs at The Brookings Institution. Until last year he served as Research Director for a three-year study of “Evangelical Christianity and Third World Democracy,” funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. He is currently establishing a Program in South Asian Studies at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. He also co-directs a research project based at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies on “Religion and Global Politics,” funded in part by the Smith Richardson Foundation. His interests include religion and politics, the historical and theoretical foundations of liberal democracy, and South Asian affairs.
