Jeane J. Kirkpatrick (1926-2006)
In Memoriam

Published December 17, 2006

EPPC mourns the death on December 7, 2006, of EPPC co-founder and longtime board member Jeane J. Kirkpatrick. A memorial reflection from EPPC Senior Fellow George Weigel:

“Jeane Kirkpatrick was one of the great heroines of freedom in the last stages of the Cold War, giving eloquent expression to the conviction that the future did not lie with the Evil Empire, but with those who had the courage and wit to resist it. There were other sides to Jeane that the public did not often see: the dedicated scholar; the mentor always willing to give a young person a hand; the steady, generous, and gracious friend; the convinced Christian. She was a great woman and a great American, and, like so many others, I shall miss her, even as I pray that the Lord gives her the reward of her labors.”
