About the Newsletter
The purpose of the bi-weekly Gathering Storm e-mail is to highlight the growing array of anti-Western forces and states that increasingly cast a shadow over our future and that violate religious liberty around the world. The email emphasizes specifically those threats posed by states fueled by Islamic Fascism or an anti-American sentiment.
What has become clear is that Iran has a grand strategy-a long-term, geo-political vision designed to diminish our influence and reach. The Islamic Republic is beginning to play strategic offence in our hemisphere by forging alliances with leftist governments, specifically Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Bolivia. With the prospect of nuclear capability hanging in the balance, the strategic leverage to be deployed by Iran with its foot in Latin America is serious indeed.
Since the newsletter's inception in March of 2007, our recipient list has expanded from a base of 400 readers to our current and counting total of 17,000. Sixty "Daily Threat" and "Weekly Roundup" articles were sent from March 12 until June 6, after which we decreased the frequency to a bi-weekly e-mail and renamed it "The Gathering Storm." Since the change, fifty Gathering Storm electronic newsletters have been sent. Included here and in the archives is every piece produced by Rick Santorum and his staff.
