The Project and the Media

Project director George Weigel has been consultant on Vatican affairs for NBC News since 1999, and appears frequently on NBC Nightly News, CNBC, and MSNBC. Weigel covered Pope John Paul II’s March 2000 Holy Land pilgrimage and World Youth Day-2002 in Toronto for NBC and has worked closely with the network in designing its coverage of the next papal conclave.

In addition to his work with NBC, Weigel has made recent appearances on PBS, including the “News Hour with Jim Lehrer” and “Religion and Ethics News Weekly.”

George Weigel’s weekly column, The Catholic Difference, is syndicated to more than fifty Catholic papers throughout the United States, with a readership of some 2.3 million.

In addition to that column, Weigel has contributed op-ed columns in the recent past to the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times and its syndicate, the Boston Globe, Canada’s  National Post, and the Daily Telegraph of London. His articles and reviews appear in a variety of publications, including First Things and Crisis.

These media engagements seem likely to intensify in the years ahead.
