Dear Friends, Because of my desire to re-enter the political arena and fight for America and its ideals once again, we are suspending the Program to Promote and Protect America's Freedom at the Ethics and Public Policy Center as of June 3, 2011. I have enjoyed leading this program for more than four years. I would like to thank the Ethics and Public Policy Center for the opportunity and platform to explore issues and promote freedom in the U.S. and around the world. It has been my privilege to be associated with scholars worthy of respect and appreciative of the foundational importance of Judeo-Christian principles in promoting a more just society for the common good. I would also like to thank my staff and all of those who participated in the many significant events which are summarized here. We have examined the challenges of Radical Islam, emerging national security threats such as Iran and Venezuela, severe limits on international religious freedom and freedom of conscience, and the role of religion in society and its importance in international relations. I believe that the challenges and threats to foundational freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in a virtuous society are worthy of our attention and sustained vigilance and effort. Our common goal has been to help build a culture faithful to America's foundational ideals and our Judeo-Christian moral tradition that will sustain our children and grandchildren.
