Remembering Our Mission in Iraq

Posted: Thursday, February 3, 2005

EPPC COLLECTION
Publication Date: February 3, 2005

In its publications and conferences since 2002, the Ethics and Public Policy Center has articulated a strong case for American's mission in Iraq. We have written extensively and hosted conferences about the morality of the war, and about the importance of promoting democracy and civil society and in the Middle East. This page brings together some of our work related to the war in, and the future of, Iraq.

VIDEO TRIBUTE TO IRAQ'S VOTERS

On January 30, 2005, the people of Iraq stood against the terrorists by voting in elections for a national assembly which will draft a permanent constitution for the country. The moral and physical courage of the Iraqi voters has inspired observers around the world. As President Bush put it in his 2005 State of the Union address, "In any nation, casting your vote is an act of civic responsibility; for millions of Iraqis, it was also an act of personal courage, and they have earned the respect of us all."

EPPC Fellow Adam Keiper has assembled a three-minute video tribute to Iraq's voters, bringing together stirring images from the day of the election. We invite you to watch it and share it with others.

Radical-in-Chief

Read EPPC Senior Fellow Stanley Kurtz's remarkable new political biography of President Obama, Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism. The New York Times bestseller, which draws on never-before-seen evidence to reveal the carefully hidden tale of Barack Obama's political past, has already earned praise as "the most important political book of the year" and as "a meticulous work of political archeology, an excavation of Obama's radical roots and socialist affiliations."

The views expressed by EPPC scholars in their work are their individual views only and are not to be imputed to EPPC as an institution.
