EPPC OUT AND ABOUT
Fighting Proliferation, 2004 The problem of proliferation has grown more complicated and urgent since the terrorist attacks of 9-11. Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 20, at noon, EPPC will host a two-hour discussion about the proliferation problem, with an emphasis on nuclear proliferation and the recent revelations of Pakistani scientist A.Q. Khan. Participants will include Henry Sokolski of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center, George Perkovich of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Tom Cochran of the National Resources Defense Council. Registration is free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be available. http://www.eppc.org/conferences/eventID.79/conf_detail.asp
Beyond Radical Islam? To what extent does radical Islam represent a distortion of traditional or "true" Islam? What would liberal Islam look like and under what conditions would it thrive? These questions, and others, were addressed at EPPC's "Beyond Radical Islam?" conference in Michigan last weekend. Video and transcripts of the event will be available online soon. http://www.eppc.org/conferences/eventID.78/conf_detail.asp
